Tim Sweeney

June 9th, 2007 by Rock

If you do not know who Tim Sweeney is, you probably should if you are reading this blog. Because if you are reading this blog, you are interested in music, or involved in music and artist development or an artists yourself.

Tim has created a new movie that should be of interest to many of you who visit Bandattack.com. Below is the email he sent me about 800CDs The Movie.

===============================================================

It’s funny that whenever an artist comes out with a new release they always claim it to be their best work. Being an artist myself, I could easily say the same thing about the new documentary, 800 CDS (www.800CDsTheMovie.com). However, I would have to add that it is also one of my most important pieces of work.

800 CDs is about YOU and the struggle you go through to get more attention and exposure for your music. This documentary features strategies I have personally taught to some of the most successful music artists. It will help you focus on the most important things in your career including how to build a community of fans and other artists who will work together with you instead of trying to be your competition.

If you have ever had left over CDs from your previous releases or you have not been able to make it to my workshops or Music Strategies, this film will show you what you have been missing!

Please order an “Advanced Copy” of this great documentary at www.800CDsTheMovie.com and call me at 951-303-9506 with your thoughts after watching it.

Charbel!! A Great Sounding California Band

June 3rd, 2007 by Rock

Charbel

Charbel is a Southern California band with a great sound that those of us at BandAttack really enjoyed. If you are looking for a chance to see this exciting new band, watch for upcoming dates in late June. Check them out at their myspace page to hear two great tunes.

Here is a bio that they provided to BandAttack.com.

Alt/Rock band Charbel is a relatively new formation of veteran musicians who have long sought the perfect combination of players and music that would ensure their success. Having found one another, they are creating a surprising reaction within the musical community.

Lead guitarist/vocalist Paulo Charbel is from Brazil. He came to the US seven years ago, with the blessing of his family, to pursue his dream of finding the right avenue for his unique style of lyric and melody. Writing with English as his second language and with strong Latin music roots such as Bossa Nova, Charbel is introducing a truly new and unique sound into the rock arena. In a day and age when everything is starting to sound somewhat the same, Charbel is fresh and interesting. Listener reaction is universally positive.

Drummer/background vocalist Ray Solowij hails from New Jersey, also coming to California to find a good fit for his eclectic style. Solowij combines rock, punk, classical, gypsy and countless other genres together to create an inimitable combination that is perfect for Charbel. He is rock solid, and a master of incorporating innovative ideas into each song.

Bassist Evan Wood is a native Californian, playing professionally since age 13. With his former rock band, Wood has played most of the major Hollywood venues – Whiskey, Roxy, Knitting Factory – and is a veteran performer. Playing five-string bass, he is able to create the full and driving sound so necessary to a power trio. He provides a solid backdrop, which is the ideal complement to rhythm and lead alike in Charbel.

When the members of Charbel posed for their photo, they made it clear that nobody was going to look severe and removed. To the contrary, the personality of the band is as unique as its sound. This is evidenced in their group and individual shots. Their band “style?” No style. That is, each member is true to himself and his individuality.

When it’s time to rehearse, Charbel is dead serious and absolutely professional. When they perform, they’re electric and completely at home on stage. In their off hours, they share a zany sense of humor and camaraderie that ensures this band will be around for a long, long time.

Watch for them.
